Our A team travelled to Maryport to play their B team. Though playing their second team, they were nevertheless a strong side and without Holden or Jacob, it was going to be a tough match.
Alice did her thing on Board 1 with a win against Tommy Wilson but Eggert lost to Gary Sharkey on board 2. Steve on board 3 against Neil Druggan had no better than to accept a draw and sadly, Nathan on board 4 lost against captain Tim bowler.
So, after winning the league for the past three seasons, Penrith A hand the trophy to someone else; most likely Maryport A but they still have to play our B team in their last match of the season, though our B team need to win 5-0. A tough ask over 4 boards🙂.
Oh well…We’ll just have to win it back again next season. League table below:
