Our B team were in action again this week, this time at home to Maryport C.

As is becoming the norm, My game, on board 4 against Ian Curr, was first to finish. I’ve been looking at a different opening which involves placing my King’s knight on e3. Unfortunately, it involves breaking the opening principle of not moving the same piece twice, actually four times, in the opening but it does give the knight good control of the centre and has the added bonus of confusing my opponents. Thankfully, I won on move 27.

Cameron wasn’t far behind after a fine win against Dennis Renney on Board 3.

Dave Siddall overcame stiff opposition in the form of Graham Sands on Board 1 to put the result of the match beyond doubt.

On board 3, Steve eventually settled for a draw against a very resilient Maryport captain, Andy Pringle.

Our B team is now 3 points ahead of, nearest rival, Maryport A who dropped a couple of points after drawing their match with Barrow. We now have only one match to play this season and that will be a home match against Maryport A which will decide the Open League. Table below:
