Only a week after narrowly losing at home to Carlisle B, our B team were off to Maryport to play their B team.
The match began at 1 pm and barely an hour had passed when Lewis sent me a message on Whatsapp…he’d won in 15 moves against Gary Sharkey’s pet opening, the Blackmarr-Diemer Gambit.
Sometime later, Eggert won against Matthew Haworth on board 1. Steve and Andrei both ended up drawing against their opponents and so Penrith B won the match without a loss and remain third in the league table. However, if our A team win against Carlisle A next Saturday by 3 – 1 or better, our B team would move up to second.
